Dear Neil,

Carbon emissions are going up. Farmland, forests and wetlands are under constant threat. Endangered species are losing their protection.  Policies that should be there to grow vibrant neighbourhoods and affordable housing are being abused to make sprawl developers richer. For several years, Ontario’s environment has been systematically attacked, and its protections undermined.

Enough is enough.

On Thursday, October 28th at 6:30 pm, join the Ontario: Yours to Protect movement for a special free online event to mark this key moment.

I will be joined by two special guests: former Mayor of Toronto and ex-Greenbelt Council chair David Crombie, and singer-songwriter and environmental activist Loreena McKennitt, who will share insights from their deep wells of experience as leaders in the environmental movement. I’ll provide an overview on the Ontario government’s latest and greatest threat to huge areas of farmland, forests and wetland, the Big Sprawl, and Environmental Defence’s Executive Director Tim Gray will share his vision for how together we can - and must - turn the tide.

The Yours to Protect movement is a growing network of concerned residents, local groups and environmental organisations big and small, all working together to protect Ontario’s future. Neil, please join us on Thursday, October 28th at 6:30 pm to find out more. Register today.

The next year will be critical in deciding the future of Ontario’s land, air and water. This can be a turning point for the better - but only if we stand together.

I hope to see you there.

Best wishes,

Phil Pothen
