UBC Gateway Clinic

With funding from the BC Ministry of Health, the School of Nursing is the home to the Gateway Team-Based Care Teaching Clinic at the Gateway Health Building.

This is an innovative clinical environment where students, clinician educators and researchers work together to model team-based primary care. UBC Nursing's Dr. Julie Tipping is the Gateway Clinic’s program director.

BC Clinical Nurse Specialist Summit

The findings from Dr. Leah Lambert and Dr. Sandra Lauck's CIHR-funded study, Policy Recommendations for Optimizing the Clinical Nurse Specialist Workforce in British Columbia, set the stage for the BC Clinical Nurse Specialist Summit in October 2025, which brought more than 110 CNSs and senior nursing leaders together to advance this work.

In Memoriam: Madeleine Kétéskwēw Dion Stout

The School of Nursing is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Madeleine Kétéskwēw Dion Stout on December 30, 2025. Madeleine Kétéskwēw Dion Stout was a nurse, Cree speaker, and preeminent scholar. She was a member of the Kehewin Cree Nation in Alberta, and was a former student of the Blue Quills Residential School near St. Paul, Alberta.

Glennis Zilm

The School of Nursing is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Glennis Zilm on January 16, 2026. A proud alumna of the UBC Nursing Class of 1958, Ms. Zilm’s stellar service and leadership were recognized through several awards at UBC and beyond.

With her classmates, Ms. Zilm was instrumental in establishing the Nursing Class of 1958 Emergency Award to support undergraduate nursing students in emergency situations.
