When an emergency strikes, animals don’t have time to waitIn Brazil’s Pantanal, one of the most fire-affected regions in the world, the most intense wildfires are expected in the coming months, as conditions become hotter and drier. That’s why we’re working alongside the Cerrado and Pantanal Animal Rescue Group, Gretap, to train frontline firefighters, the very people who come across wildlife during fires, to safely rescue animals in need. By building this capacity ahead of time, more animals can be found, cared for and given a chance to return to the wild. At the same time, we’re working on longer-term solutions, helping address the drivers of climate change, which is making wildfires more frequent and intense, by supporting habitat protection and restoration and promoting more sustainable food systems. This work matters not just for animals, but for all of us. When we protect animals and the habitats they depend on, we’re also helping protect the environment and the planet we share. Because when animals thrive, we all thrive. Thank you for being part of this work. See how firefighters on the front lines are preparing for wildfire season – and what it means for animals.
