Your support made a world of a difference for animals in 2022

Dear friend,

As a new year begins, we are proud to look back on all that we have accomplished together last year. Thanks to you, we achieved some truly amazing things for animals and made significant progress in the fight for animal welfare.

Here’s just some of the wonderful work you helped make possible:

  • Rescued 24 bears from bile farms across Vietnam and moved South Korea to commit to end bear bile farming forever.
  • Rehabilitated and advocated for animals who are suffering and displaced from their habitats due to intensive agriculture, including animals rescued from the fires in Brazil.
  • Supported the care of 62 elephants in 10 venues around the world.
  • And much more!

But our work is far from done.

Every year, billions of animals worldwide suffer needlessly. Chickens, cows, and pigs are factory farmed in appalling conditions. Wild animals - like grey parrots - are ripped from their homes for the exotic pet trade, whales and dolphins are forced to do tricks in unnatural conditions to entertain humans, and elephants are beaten so they will take tourists for rides.

The list of animal cruelties goes on, but we can all contribute to help stop this needless suffering.

Even small changes to our lifestyle and mindset can make a big impact on the lives of countless animals.

How will you make the world a better place for animals in 2023?

World Animal Protection put animal welfare on the agenda at COP15

Our team recently joined nearly 20,000 delegates from more than 190 countries at COP15 - the United Nations (UN) Biodiversity Conference. The focus of this critical conference was the biodiversity crisis and solutions to halt and reverse biodiversity loss.

Why is this important? Biodiversity is life.

Biodiversity refers to the variety of life on Earth, from microscopic single-celled organisms to complex plants and animals and everything in between. Biodiversity is critical to all aspects of our lives, and we must work diligently to preserve it.

What does biodiversity have to do with animal welfare?

The top drivers of biodiversity loss include industrial livestock production and the commercial wildlife trades. By improving animal welfare in these systems, we can simultaneously advance the protection for biodiversity.

Outcome: a landmark agreement was reached to establish a new global framework for biodiversity protection.

It can cater to different texture preferences, it has endless potential flavor combinations, and it leaves you feeling warm and cozy inside. P.S. There is still time to take action to support Bill C-293 – the Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness Act!

We need your support! Urge your Member of Parliament (MP) to vote to pass Bill C-293. The Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness Act will help to curb the commercial wildlife trade and factory farming to prevent future pandemics and help to protect animals from suffering in the cruel wildlife trade.
