Stolen from the wild as a young orphan, Mundi endured years of captivity and exploitation for entertainment purposes. Chained, isolated, and forced to perform circus tricks, her life was far from what any sentient being deserves.
Thanks to our amazing community of supporters, we successfully transported Mundi to Elephant Refuge North America (ERNA), where she will soon make new friends with fellow rescued elephants, Bo and Tarra. Here, she can finally experience the freedom, care, and dignity she was unjustly denied for so long.
We extend our heartfelt thanks for being part of this incredible journey. We are immensely grateful for your support, and we will continue to keep you updated on Mundi's progress.

Recent tragedies at Marineland Niagara raise concerns over animal welfare
The loss of a beluga whale and a dolphin, shortly after the passing of Kiska, Marineland's last surviving orca, highlight the dire situation of animals held in captivity at Marineland.
You know we have long raised concerns over the activities at the facility and the lack of regulations in Ontario. We have been calling for the government to take immediate action by implementing stricter regulations and improving enforcement measures to prevent further suffering among the remaining animals.
These events underscore the ethical issues of keeping animals in captivity for entertainment. Mistreatment of animals extends beyond Marineland Niagara to facilities worldwide, where dolphins are forced to perform, and elephants endure distressing conditions.
Research on animal emotions reveals the profound impact captivity has on these sentient beings, emphasizing the need to protect their well-being.
By learning more about how animals feel, we can advocate for improved welfare standards and work towards ending their suffering in captivity.
New updates to the dairy code of practice... but do they go far enough?
Back in January 2022, we asked you to provide feedback to the National Farm Animal Care Council’s (NFACC) Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Dairy Cattle in Canada. Well, in March of this year, NFACC released the updated dairy code. While improvements have been made, there are still areas that fall short in protecting cows and calves.

Despite some positive updates to the code of practice, it is crucial to recognize that reducing our reliance on industrial animal agriculture and transitioning to plant-based alternatives is vital for a more sustainable and compassionate future.

The latest update on our PetSmart campaign:
Two years after publicly launching our campaign urging PetSmart to stop the sale of wild animals as pets, we have taken a critical step in the campaign and are in conversation with the company. We are pleased that we can now bring our expertise as well as the voice of animals and our supporters directly to the table with PetSmart.
