Stand Up for Kids: Futures Transformed Campaign Newsletter
|
Dear supporter,
This past summer, Children's Aid Foundation of Canada was thrilled to announce that we surpassed our $75 million Stand Up for Kids: Futures Transformed campaign goal. Now, just a few months later, we've raised $86 million towards our new $100 million target. The additional funds will amplify the Foundation’s scope and reach, making a profound and lasting impact on the lives of many more children, youth and families.
In this edition of the Stand Up for Kids Futures Transformed: Campaign Newsletter, you’ll see the impact of our recent events, learn about our Back to the Land program and read about how you can help support children, youth and families this holiday season.

Supporting Indigenous youth as they get 'back to the land'
Indigenous children are vastly overrepresented in the child welfare system – 48% of children and youth living in foster care in Canada are Indigenous. We partner with Indigenous-led organizations to provide access to the Back to the Land program, which offers outdoor, land-based programs in natural environments that immerse Indigenous children and youth in cultural experiences, traditions and knowledge. The program supports Indigenous youth and families as they reestablish and foster healthy connections to their Indigenous identities. We are grateful to the Tachane Foundation for their support of Back to the Land.

How AMJ moves for a cause
AMJ Campbell has recently strengthened their partnership with the Foundation by pledging to give $2 million to support children, youth and families. As our Stand Up for Kids National Moving Partner, AMJ is helping to support more than 15,000 children and youth across Canada. AMJ’s support is broad reaching and includes their Move Month program each October (which raised over $120,000 this year!) and transporting comfort kits across Canada for kids who are newly entering care. Together, we are striving to make our local communities better.

Meet Tiago, our 2023 Stand Up for Kids Night Valedictorian
September 13's Stand Up for Kids Night honoured the academic achievements of the young people we support. Over 300 scholarships were presented to students for the 2023-24 academic year. Tiago, this year's valedictorian speaker, former youth in care and University of Victoria student said that, "I want to acknowledge each youth in care across Canada and their stories because every one of them is unique, but so often they go unheard. The Foundation helps give us a voice." Thank you to The Globe & Mail and CIBC for their support of this event.
