Creating Community for Ireland’s
Older Generation

Loneliness is one of the most pressing issues facing older people in Ireland today. A recent report by ALONE found that 52% of older people reported issues with loneliness. With your support, The Ireland Funds is helping to tackle this issue by supporting organizations like ALONE, who in 2024 reached nearly 44,000 individuals, providing vital services such as befriending, housing support, and assistive technology.

That same spirit of connection and care is at the heart of other organizations you help us support. Making Connections pairs volunteers with older people for regular social visits and community engagement. In rural areas, Rural Support’s Plough On initiative supports older male farmers through monthly meetups, helping them reconnect and find renewed purpose.

Your generosity helps us ensure that every day, more older people across the island of Ireland feel valued, supported, and less alone.

Thank you for making a difference.
