As municipal and school board elections approach, our community needs clear, evidence-based understandings of the realities facing public schools now more than ever. Researchers, practitioners, teacher candidates, and representatives from the teachers’ union will join together for a panel discussion to examine the current state of public education. By dispelling misconceptions and highlighting the challenges that shape classrooms today, this event aims to support folks in making informed decisions at the polls and understanding the weight of municipal elections.

Join Douglas Sanderson and Andrew Stobo Sniderman, co-authors of the national bestseller Valley of the Birdtail: An Indian Reserve, a White Town, and the Road to Reconciliation for a conversation about reconciliation, equity and pathways forward.

Moderated by UBC Faculty of Education Dean Jan Hare and Dr. Mona Gleason, the discussion will explore practical approaches to truth-telling and building stronger relations.

Join the A Project to Prepare meals with A Loving Spoonful

A Loving Spoonful provides free, nutritious meals to individuals and families living with HIV and co-existing illnesses. Help those in need receive nutritious food by preparing and packaging meals while reducing food waste. Volunteer your time to support community members with nourishment, love, hope, and compassion.

Participants will prepare and package meals in a commercial kitchen and warehouse. Tasks include portioning food, using sealing machines, labelling containers, and organizing meals into crates.

  The Manager Event and Sales, Alumni Facilities operations as a main point of contact for incoming sales inquiries, acts as a lead on large scale complex programming and events. This position is directly involved with in the coordination, and provisions of services for approximately 500 meeting and events annually serviced by two distinct, award-winning properties; The Robert H. Lee Alumni Center and Cecil Green Park.
